Greetings from the President of the 8th Congress of the International Society for Gender Medicine
We are pleased and honored to announce the 8th Congress of the International Society for Gender Medicine will be held in Sendai for 3 days from September 14 (Thurs) to 16 (Sat), 2017. We are deeply grateful to the Board of the International Society of Gender Medicine and all associated parties for giving us the opportunity to host the Congress in Japan. This will be the first time the Congress of the International Society for Gender Medicine will be held in Japan. For the upcoming Congress, we are planning a program focusing on the super-aging society and globalization in gender medicine. For this reason, the theme of the Congress will be “Trends in Gender Medicine: Superaging Society and Globalization.” We hope that the 8th Congress will be an aid to globalization and a catalyst for setting a vision for gender medicine and medical care worldwide. Sendai, known as the Forest City in Japan, is a place of scenic and natural beauty. In September, the area is filled with the green leaves of beautiful trees in the Aoba mountain around the Congress venue and the streets in Sendai. Around the Sendai City, there are many places of scenic interest, including Matsushima, Hiraizumi, and Zao, as well as numerous hot springs. We are certain that you will truly enjoy the early autumn in Sendai and the Tohoku region. We look forward to hosting you in Sendai.
Hiroaki Shimokawa, MD, PhD. President, the 8th Congress of the International Society for Gender Medicine President, Japanese Association for Gender-Specific Medicine Professor, Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Tohoku University Graduate School of Medicine
